New Bern Historic - Riverside

Known as New Bern's first suburb, the Riverside Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. It contains 101 contributing buildings developed between 1894 and 1924. Many of the homes are of Classical Revival, Queen Anne, and Bungalow/American Craftsman style architecture.  Riverside's historic period of significance in regards to architecture was from 1875 - 1899, 1900-1924, and 1925 - 1949.  Two of its most notable architectural structures are the Dunn House (1912) and the Riverside Methodist Church (1920).  Historic Riverside is in close proximity to the New Bern National Cemetery, established in 1867.
